Razorbacks Drop Game To Mazon Merchants

The Cortland Razorbacks traveled to Yorkville to play the Mazon Merchants Tuesday night. JJ Perez had 2 hits with 2 RBI.  Jay Armes took the loss going 4 innings and allowing 6 earned runs.

The Razorbacks next travel to Rockford to take the RockValley Club Team at RockValley College on Tuesday.

Hogs Start Off 2008 Season 3-1 In League Play

After defeating the Hogs’ brother team (Cortland) on Tuesday night,  the Hogs took a trip to Rockford to play the new and revamped Rockford Blackhawk Pride on Wednesday.  The Hogs split, winning the first game 13-6.  Brian Tobin (6IP 11H 6ER 4K) got the win.  Seven different Hog players had mutli-hit games.  Jay Armes was 4×5 with a triple and 3RBI.

In game 2 the Hogs dropped a tough one 6-4 to the same team.  Joe Crouch (7IP 6ER 8K) took the loss.  Fred Cardella was 2×3 and Chad Crutcher was 2×4 to lead the Hogs offense.

On Thursday night the Hogs traveled to Yorkville to play HRM Properties of Yorkville and the Yorkville Legion.  The scrappy HRM team played the Hogs tough.  The Hogs cmae away with a 5-4 win. Brian Tobin (6IP 7H 4ER 3K) got the win and Joe Crouch picked up the save.  Jay Armes led the Hogs once again with 2 RBI.  Brian Crouch was 2×2 with a walk.  Matt Smith homered.

The final game fo the night had the Hogs defeating the Yorkville Legion 14-2.  Tim Murphy ( 4IP 2H 2ER 7K 3BB) got the win.  Matt Smith (3×4) had another HR and Tommy Crouch was 2×2 with 2RBI and Brian Crouch was 3×4 with 2RBI.  Jay Armes finished off his great week going 2×3 with 4RBI.

The Hogs are now 7-6 and next play on June 3rd in Rockford against the Cedarville Reeds.

Hogs Defeat Razorbacks in Exhibition

The DeKalb Hustlehogs defeated the Cortland Razorbacks in an exhibition game on Tuesday night in Cortland by a score of 12-7.  Tom Crouch got the win for the Hogs and Jay Armes took the loss for the Razorbacks.  Drew Herrman, John Davis and Jay Perez all had multi-hits fir the Razorbacks.  Tom Crouch homered for the Hogs and Shaun Ebert had two hits.

Hogs Go 1-3 In Dick Tracy Tournament

The Hogs dropped to 3-5 on the season.  Three of the Hogs losses this year come after leading 4-0 early in the game.  The Hogs will regroup and play three nights this week starting with a game vs the Razorbacks on Tuesday before starting league play in Rockford and Yorkville on Wednesday and Thursday.

The Hogs looked a step slow and Brett Brubaker had all his pitches working in the loss.

Once again the Hogs jumped out early and  then lost the lead.  Duncan smashed the ball all weekend and the Hogs ran into a buzzsaw.

2008 Icebreaker Results

Aurora D&M Shamrocks win the Hustlehogs Icebreaker defeating Chicago Fastpitch 17-3 in the final.  Chicago wins the ISC II bid by being the highest finishing ISC 2 team.
